The lightweight trend in e-mountain bikes (e-mtbs) is the most intriguing development in this evolving segment. There's a noticeable split emerging: lightweight e-mtbs are pointing towards a return to the MTB’s natural character, prioritizing fitness, agility and maneuverability, while their heavier and more powerful counterparts are evolving into complex and bulky vehicles more like mopeds.

We were determined to pursue a design that wouldn't add unnecessary weight to the bike. Therefore we came up with an asymmetric shock mount solution that allowed us to incorporate wider sections into the frame, enhancing both stability and efficiency, while also serving as a distinctive design element. Moreover, we consciously opted for a non-polarizing style, recognizing the abundance of bikes catering specifically to male riders in the market. Our aim was to create a design that appeals to a broader audience, ensuring inclusivity and diversity in our approach.

In collaboration with Lovel Matijaš (coach of the Croatian national MTB team), and his team, we meticulously crafted a suspension layout that strikes a fine balance between performance and stability. Through extensive testing and refinement using numerous prototypes, we ensured its capability on various trails. SALZ played a pivotal role in bringing the bike to production, handling all essential tasks from design and suspension layout to kinematic analysis, package layout, and CAD surfacing up to Class A standards. Originally conceptualised under the Greyp brand, the Zaney e-mtb found a new home under Porsche eBike Performance following the brand's acquisition.
